Collection: Mandrakes

Mandrakes are a herbal medicine that, when uprooted suffer such trauma that they emit a blood-curdling scream so terrible that it can be fatal to anyone who hears it.

To counter this mandrakes are harvested with the help of dogs. The dog is attached to the leafy top of the plant with a length of rope and enticed from a distance, wrenching the mandrake from the ground with it's screams out of ear shot.

A powerful medicine used as aphrodisiacs and flying potions the mandrakes can still be seen today, walking in the park, leashed to their canine companions searching for the warmth and darkness of home.
