About/Contact Joe

Joe Barrow is an emerging figurative artist based in North London. He studied Contemporary Portraiture at the Art Academy, London under the tutorship of Sadie Lee and Roxanna Halls.
His practice is centered on creating work using a form of automatic painting. He starts his pictures with random gestures and mark making and, as these build up on the canvas figures, stories and emotions develop. Working with this instinctive approach creates mythobiographical landscapes within a visual language that communicates on an emotional level to the viewer.
