The strange tale of Granger Taylor

On the 30th October, 1980 Grace and Jim Taylor found this note taped to their bedroom door,

“Dear Mother and Father,

I have gone away to walk aboard an alien ship, as recurring dreams assured a 42-month interstellar voyage to explore the vast universe, then return.

I am leaving behind all my possessions to you as I will no longer require the use of any. Please use the instructions in my will as a guide to help.

Love, Granger”

Their son, Granger was never seen again.

The painting “The Strange Tale of Granger Taylor” takes this story and uses it as a launch pad to explore what it means to move outside of conventional paths and expectations, to explore one’s dreams and leave the earth behind on an uncharted trajectory.
